A dose of red

“But on the voluptuous stone of the Colorado Plateau
nothing is ever as it appears.”

~ Craig Childs

So, I’ve had my dose of red, the tonic to a too-green Pacific Slope overload. It came in many shades and many moods. It soaked in through gentle morning light and blazing afternoon heat. At times doled out in portions uniform and solid; at other times in stippled or soft spoonfuls. It was the expected and the surprise. And, seeds for other stories planted in the sandstone red soil will soon begin to sprout from my evergreen home. For now, here’s a tease of red to ponder.
